Elections staff said notices for the election have not yet been posted and may be amended; they identified San Juanita Cantu as an early-voting site and the Roma Community Center as a precinct location. Staff noted that polling locations must be set for each precinct and confirmed the county can still make changes before the public notice is posted.
On a separate item, staff described a proposed contract to provide full election services to the City of Rio Grande City for a charter amendment election. The staff estimate includes a requested $10,000 initial payment and a final invoice after the election; staff said the written estimate accompanies the contract discussion.
The court also approved purchase of 20 DS200 voting machines for the election department, an item the court said had been discussed earlier in executive session. The motion to buy 20 machines was made and carried.
Elections staff and the court said they will finalize notices, confirm exact polling locations per precinct and complete procurement steps for the machines before the election. The county did not provide a complete line-item cost in the public discussion for the Rio Grande City contract; staff characterized the figures as an estimate and said a final invoice will follow.
