Commissioners approve iDocket cloud contract for county clerks but question funding

Starr County Commissioners voted to approve an iDocket contract to provide a cloud system for the county’s district clerk and justice of the peace on June 8, but the presiding judge cautioned the contract’s approval does not itself guarantee funding.
"This is just to approve the contract. It doesn't mean that they're gonna be funded because I don't know if we have the funds for it or not," the judge said during discussion. He added that the contract price "is kinda high" and said he would prefer negotiating terms or limiting deployment so smaller offices that will not use the system are not required to pay for it.
The motion to approve the contract carried on a voice vote. County staff did not present a final funding source at the meeting; the judge instructed staff to proceed with the approval step while indicating funding and implementation details may be adjusted later.
