Frio County commissioners approve subdivision plat, grant paperwork and routine items

Commissioners also voted to accept a $100 donation to the Frio County Sheriff—s Office to be placed in the office—s donation line item. Sheriff Basil Peter Salinas described routine uses for donations, saying they often support community outreach and officer appreciation. The court approved the minutes from the Oct. 15, 2024 meeting and voted to adopt the 2025 indigent defense grant resolution and designate the county judge as the agent to submit the application and associated expense reports required by the state. County staff explained the grant covers expenditures for court-appointed attorneys and, this year, also included translator expenses. Commissioners noted the resolution is an annual administrative step to pursue state funding.
On financial items, the court authorized execution of an affidavit confirming the treasurer's report met statutory requirements and approved an order to publish the county treasurer's report as required by Local Government Code §114.026. The court also reviewed statutory reports from county officials under Local Government Code §114.044 and approved those reports with specified exceptions noted in the minutes.
Finally, the court added one omitted invoice to bills payable: a $539 Homewood Suites invoice for a tax assessor-collector employee, Esperanza Luis, to cover lodging at the BG Young school conference. A motion to include that invoice and to allow the proposed utility accounts passed.
The meeting adjourned after a brief general discussion and closing remarks.
