Frio County sets 30 mph limit on Urban Road (County Road 4843) after public hearing

Staff explained the requested limit tracks the lower bound recommended for local roads. Commissioners also discussed nonstandard signage requests; staff noted that “Children at play” signs are not recognized or recommended by TxDOT and may only be posted by private property owners on their land or fence lines.
The order approved by the court directs the county to sign and publish the speed-limit order and proceed with any necessary sign installation and notification procedures. No appeal or additional public comment was recorded at the meeting.
The county did not record a roll-call vote tally in the meeting minutes beyond the motion and the chair’s statement that the motion passed. The speed limit change is an administrative order of the Commissioners Court and will be implemented under county road maintenance procedures.
