The sponsoring council member said they pulled data from the USPS website and were surprised to find the east side effectively lacked public collection boxes. Potential sites suggested included city property near utility billing, retail shopping areas, or other municipal facilities, if the postmaster is amenable.
Staff said there is no formal online mechanism to request additional USPS collection boxes and suggested staff contact the local postmaster directly. City Manager volunteered that staff (the manager or Kristoff) would reach out and report back to the council on feasibility and any site requirements if USPS agrees to a box on city property.
Council asked staff to pursue the contact with USPS and come back with options rather than take immediate formal action.
