Frio County Commissioners voted to close the county courthouse at noon on Nov. 5, the day of the general election, to permit election staff to transfer equipment and secure ballot materials.
County officials said the election administrator will not begin moving voting machines until about 1 p.m., so the noon closure will allow space for staff and a security escort for equipment transfers. The court directed security be posted at the front door and that other courthouse doors remain locked during the transfer process.
Commissioner Martinez moved to approve the courthouse closure at noon; the motion was seconded and approved on the record as 'Motion passes.' Officials said the courthouse cameras and transparent procedures are intended to document movement of election machines and help ensure process transparency.
The court made no additional procedural amendments on the record; timing and staffing details were described as coordinated with the election administrator and district court calendar modifications to accommodate the transfer.
