The Uvalde County Commissioners Court approved a series of line‑item budget amendments as the county prepared to close the fiscal year on Sept. 30, 2024. County auditors told the court the packet includes multiple grant funds being closed and brought into the general fund, a transfer of excess funds from UCAD, and an unanticipated increase of more than $300,000 in half‑cent sales tax receipts.
Staff explained the amendments also formalize a payroll‑line reclassification for Road & Bridge employees, moving from hourly‑paid lines to salaried lines to simplify future budgeting and pay presentation. The auditor said the approach has been under consideration and is intended to make salary reporting clearer in future budgets.
Commissioners asked routine questions about prior notice and public accessibility of amendment documents; staff confirmed the line‑item amendments are distributed to commissioners ahead of the meeting and will be uploaded to the public record as part of the minutes. The court voted to adopt the presented amendments.
