Court renews victim-notification contract and approves VAWA grant resolution; allows state representative’s constituent office in county archives

County Auditor Brenda Trevino presented the fifth renewal of the Statewide Automated Victim Notification Service (contract number 20222344900-527-01), stating the Office of the Attorney General reauthorized the statewide contract and the county’s renewal would run Sept. 1, 2024, through Aug. 31, 2025, at a cost of $18,005.71. Trevino said grant funds are available to cover some or all of the cost. Commissioner Martin moved to approve the renewal; the court voted to approve the contract renewal.
On grants, Trevino asked the court to approve submission of a grant application to the Office of the Governor Criminal Justice Division for funding under the Violence Against Women Act (OOG grant reference noted in the record as 3015409). The resolution designates the county auditor as the authorized official and commits to providing required matching funds. Commissioner Aiken moved to accept the resolution; the court approved it.
On facility use, the court approved allowing State Representative Ryan (spelled variably in the transcript) or his designee to use an empty office in the Archives Building for weekly constituent visits. Nela Hopkins, speaking for the Wilson County Historical Society, told the court the society supports the arrangement and said the representative had helped secure funds for local facilities and law enforcement. Commissioner Perdola moved the chamber’s request and the court approved the use.
