Texas Silver Haired Legislature urges Wilson County to nominate a county representative

Ed Rogers of the Texas Silver Haired Legislature asked the commissioners to nominate a Wilson County resident to represent older Texans in the statewide volunteer body that brings resolutions to the state legislature.
Ed Rogers, deputy speaker pro tem for the Texas Silver Haired Legislature (TSHL), used his public comment period to ask Wilson County to identify a resident to serve as the county's TSHL representative.
"I'm here representing 9,300 older Texans, 17 percent of your voting eligible voters here in Wilson County," Rogers said, noting TSHL is an all-volunteer, nonpartisan organization established in 1985 to serve as a voice for older Texans before the state legislature. He provided brochures, a two-page qualifications summary and a list of 66 resolutions the organization delivered to Austin during its biennial session.
Rogers said he was not seeking financial support, but requested guidance from the court on potential nominees and offered to work with the county to submit a candidate. He also supplied a digital copy of TSHL's legislative report for the court and asked commissioners to contact him if they have nominees.
