Chamber permitted to use Courthouse Square for Nov. 30 Christmas festival; light towers and parking included

The Wilson County Commissioners Court on Oct. 14 approved the Floresville Chamber of Commerce’s request to use Courthouse Square and adjacent county property for a Christmas festival and parade planned for Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024.
Dustin May, speaking for the chamber, asked the court for permission to place vendors on the C Street lawn, add food trucks, use a parking lot on the courthouse side, and operate two light towers for safety in an area the presenter said can become dark. "We're also requesting possibly the use of 2 of the tower lights because there's going to be a lot of activity down towards Wilson County news and it gets really dark down there, so for safety and security we would like to put a light there," May said.
Commissioner Perdola moved to approve the use of the courthouse grounds and to include the parking lot and light towers in the motion; Commissioner King seconded. Commissioners discussed which towers would be used and confirmed the event coincides with the Thanksgiving weekend schedule. The court voted in favor and the motion passed.
The city is organizing street closures and a separate street dance; the chamber’s request focused on vendor locations, parking and temporary lighting. The court did not specify additional permit conditions during the meeting; staff coordination with the city and the chamber will follow.
