Sheriff Jim Stewart presented the Wilson County Sheriff's Office monthly report for October during the Nov. 25 court meeting.
The sheriff said the office received approximately 1,919 calls in October with 521 reportable incidents and 1,398 non-reportable calls, bringing year-to-date total calls for service to 16,266. He reported 81 livestock calls in October (a notable increase), 18 mental-health related calls in the month, and listed monthly and year-to-date arrest and CID case statistics. For criminal interdiction and Operation Lone Star-related activity, he noted counts of felony and misdemeanor arrests and case referrals to county and district attorney offices. The sheriff said there were two stolen vehicles recovered in October and one undocumented person detained for the month.
Commissioners asked about security checks and whether citizens can request them while away from home; the sheriff confirmed a protocol exists to log dates and particulars and perform checks. Commissioner King pressed the sheriff to consider a zero-tolerance policy for illegal burns; the sheriff said he would look into it.
No formal votes were required for the report; the sheriff answered questions and the court moved on after the presentation.
