Wilson County approves split cost with Floresville for courthouse holiday lights

Wilson County Commissioners on Monday approved a $17,448 contract to reinstall holiday lights on the courthouse and surrounding grounds and agreed to split the cost with the City of Floresville.
County Auditor Brenda Trevino told the court the vendor offered an early-reinstall discount that reduced this year’s quote to $17,448 from last year’s total of $20,880. Trevino said the county already received capital-credit funding for the year and recommended paying $8,724, the county’s half of the split with the city. "We do have a grant that pays for that as well," Trevino said when summarizing funding for related items later in the meeting.
Commissioner King moved to approve the county’s payment of $8,724; Commissioner Martin seconded. The court voted in favor and the motion passed.
The court entered the certificate recipients for security, privacy and cybersecurity training into the record earlier in the meeting; those names were read by the judge as part of the opening items.
The approval is an administrative action to pay for seasonal decorations and does not create an ongoing program or new recurring appropriation beyond the current capital-credit availability.
