At the Oct. 24 meeting commissioners highlighted several items outside the major agenda topics.
Dana told the commission that the Select Board is interested in applications to the Recreational Trails Program, which offers up to $50,000 with a 20% local match and requires an early-December pre-application. Commissioners volunteered to help prepare a work plan, budget and climate-resilience assessment that the grant application requires.
Bill reported the Select Board had an executive-session discussion related to a land transaction with Green Mountain Power and said no open-session action followed; he did not have further details to share. Members also discussed a proposal to create a full-time recreation director position; Bill said the position would be salaried and that Mike Rowe has been proposed as a candidate who could retire from teaching and step into the role.
Finally, Dana announced that long-serving alternate Jim Hall will retire at the end of the calendar year; staff have posted advertisements seeking applicants for the alternate seat and members suggested holding a brief recognition at an upcoming meeting.
The commission approved the Oct. 3 minutes and adjourned the meeting.
