At its Nov. 14 meeting the Town of Rutland Planning Commission approved the Goodrich subdivision on Easy Street and Post Road, but the decision is contingent on the town issuing the required curb cut for driveway access.
Speaker 1 opened the public hearing and said no members of the public were present to comment. Subdivider Speaker 7 confirmed the commission had “not gotten, any notice of the approval of that application” for the curb cut, though the applicant had received notice of the water connection. Commissioners discussed whether to make approval conditional on the curb-cut permit and focused on timing and safety concerns.
Speaker 6 argued a contingency was appropriate, noting the curb cut is a town authorization that affects fire safety and driveway placement. Speaker 3 moved to approve the subdivision with that contingency and the commission recorded vocal affirmative votes. Speaker 1 summarized the parcels that will result from the split: the existing parcel of 1.99 acres will be divided into Lot 1A (1.65 acres) and Lot 1B (0.34 acres), and the applicant was advised to file the mylar within the 90-day deadline so it will be ready when the curb-cut permit is granted.
Commissioners asked staff to follow up with town road staff and with Bill (staff) about the curb-cut approval and to confirm when the mylar is submitted. Speaker 7 said the curb-cut location is shown on the submitted map but the formal town authorization remained outstanding.
The commission’s approval was recorded by voice vote; commissioners instructed staff to withhold final processing until the town curb-cut permit is in hand and the required recording and administrative fees are paid.
