Rutland road crew reports culvert replacements and sinkhole repairs; board discusses equipment and Park Street jurisdiction

Sears and board members discussed a potential excavator purchase and the need to increase the depreciation fund to cover expanded equipment replacement costs. "As we've expanded our equipment and our personnel, we need to probably look at that going up a little bit to keep up with what we would be needing to replace," a board member said.
Board members raised concerns about dumping and gating on Park Street, seeking to clarify the town/city boundary before taking any action. The highway committee and Dave Sears will consult city maps and follow up with the city Department of Public Works to determine ownership and enforcement responsibility.
There was also discussion about potential capital purchases and how carryover funds could be used for equipment; members urged the highway committee to refine requests during the budget process.
