Rutland Select Board records unanimous votes on minutes, new hire and licenses; authorizes interior purchases

On personnel, the board formally moved to hire Jared Dumas as a police officer. The chair said the police committee had completed screening and, with the board's consent, extended an offer. The motion to hire passed unanimously.
Town Clerk and Treasurer Carrie Clark presented two liquor licenses: a six‑month, third‑class license for an East Asian restaurant and a second‑class license for Stewart's Shops at 351 US Route 4. Both motions were made, seconded and approved by unanimous vote.
The board also authorized JP to purchase remaining interior items listed for the public safety building up to approximately $33,000; members noted that amount had been anticipated in earlier estimates and would not reduce the uncommitted capital balance reported by the finance committee. The motion carried unanimously.
The meeting concluded with a motion to enter executive session to discuss possible land acquisition and a personnel matter; that motion also passed. A final motion to adjourn closed the meeting.
What happens next: Several of the spending items noted (the public safety building outfitting) will proceed under the purchasing authorization given, and the personnel hire is now complete.
