Rutland selectboard appoints Kathy Kapatanski as third lister

The Rutland selectboard on Aug. 27 appointed Kathy Kapatanski to the town’s vacant lister seat following an executive-session interview. The motion to appoint Kapatanski was made, seconded and approved unanimously.
Board members told Kapatanski she will need to run for the position at the next election and instructed town staff on petition and filing deadlines so she can be placed on the ballot if eligible. Town clerk Carrie Clark said she would confirm whether the name can be added for the November mail-in ballot and, if the deadline has passed, that the board could reappoint or hold interviews again prior to the March election.
The board moved directly from the executive session into the open meeting to announce the appointment and complete routine agenda business.
