Lavaca County accepts FY2025 Senate Bill 22 funds and thanks donors for records and magistrate equipment

During its Dec. 9 meeting, Lavaca County Commissioners Court approved acceptance of fiscal year 2025 funds awarded under Senate Bill 22 for the Lavaca County Sheriff and the County Attorney's Office; commissioners said the funds have been approved and only required court acceptance.
Separately, the court publicly acknowledged and thanked the Dixon Allen Foundation for two monetary gifts: a $10,000 donation for records retention and archives and a $9,000 donation to support video-magistrate equipment for the Justice of the Peace. Commissioners described the video magistrate funding as a way to allow magistrations to occur remotely in some cases and reduce confrontational in-person transfers for jail magistrations.
All motions to accept funds and acknowledge donations were approved by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
