Lavaca County court backs resolution urging state exemption for county motor-fuel tax; acknowledges two gubernatorial disaster proclamations

Precinct 4 moved to approve the resolution and commissioners passed the motion by voice vote. The court discussed plans to collect signatures from other counties (the packet references hundreds of counties asked) and to forward the signed resolution to the state capital.
Separately, the court formally acknowledged two gubernatorial proclamations from Gov. Greg Abbott: a renewal of a disaster proclamation concerning border security and a separate proclamation renewing disaster status for severe drought conditions in certain counties. Commissioners voted to acknowledge both proclamations by voice vote and reiterated that the county remains under a burn ban tied to drought conditions.
The court recorded no dissents on either the resolution or the acknowledgements. Staff will arrange for the signed resolution to be transmitted to the appropriate state representative or coordinator, per the court's instructions.
