Lavaca County commissioners on Sept. 10 approved a resolution authorizing application for the Texans Feeding Texans home‑delivered meals grant through the Texas Department of Agriculture and approved the county cash match for the grant period.
Becky Young presented the annual application and described the county match as a sum calculated from the county’s share of residents aged 60 and older; she said the program requires a monetary county match and that the county must show proof of the match before completing the next application. Commissioner discussion referenced the match figure in the meeting packet and commissioners moved to approve the resolution authorizing the grant application.
The court subsequently approved disbursement of the county cash match ($1,534.50 as recorded in the meeting packet) to Community Connections of Lavaca County to document the county’s contribution for the current grant period. The motion to disburse the funds was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Commissioners and staff noted some administrative friction with paperwork timing from regional partners and said better lead time is needed for packet preparation, but no commissioner opposed the match or disbursement.
