Northampton License Commission approves late-hours for Hotel Northampton and names new manager at Bridal package store

Commissioner Natasha Yakovlev, presiding, introduced an application from Monanto Enterprises LLC doing business as the Hotel Northampton at 36 King Street seeking an extension of service hours to 2 a.m. on "December '5." O'Brien, the hotel representative, said the hotel will be rented for a wedding and described a plan for a brief outdoor toast followed by an after-hours gathering inside. "We have crowd safety managers on-site," O'Brien said, adding that the event would be largely self-contained.
Commissioners discussed safety and inspections before voting. A commissioner noted that "the hotel hasn't passed its inspection for 2025," and asked staff to ensure outstanding fire, building and liquor-license inspection items are addressed. O'Brien responded that the hotel staff were "working on it" and would inform the relevant inspector. The commission moved to approve the change of hours and recorded an affirmative vote.
On a separate agenda item, the commission considered an application to name Destiny Marie Cruz Shipper as the licensed manager for Bridal Operating LLC, 3375 King Street. James Channing, an attorney for Bridal Operating, told the commission that Shipper has worked at the location since February 2022 and "is TIP certified," and that the company was confident in her ability to perform the duties of a named license manager. The commission moved and approved the manager change.
The panel also approved routine business: minutes for Oct. 16, 2024 (with Commissioner Amy Kalin recorded as abstaining), minutes for Nov. 20, 2024 (with Commissioner Jennifer Ewers recorded as abstaining), and minutes for Dec. 2, 2024. The meeting concluded after commissioners reported no new business and voted to adjourn.
The approvals were procedural actions by the Northampton License Commission; staff noted outstanding inspection work for the hotel that must be completed as part of the implementation of the license conditions.
