Gonzales County Commissioners Court approved use of commissary funds to purchase an OCB LLC jail-roster and commissary app that will publish inmate rosters, allow family members to add money to commissary accounts, and provide an offender database.
Speaker 10 presented a brochure for the product and said it "does about 3 things that we think are pretty important. 1 is the jail roster. Second is commissary. ... And lastly, it gives us a database for our offenders in the county." He told commissioners the app requires users to download it to access roster and commissary functions: "They'll have to download the app to get it." Staff estimated annual maintenance or credit costs at roughly $4,000 a year.
Commissioners questioned whether the county's existing Tyler Technologies system could provide the same online roster and directed staff to contact Tyler Tech to see if the county-hosted solution could meet needs before the county returns for ongoing funding requests. The court approved allowing the purchase to be paid out of the commissary account and asked the sheriff and county staff to follow up on integration and adoption figures.
