Staff reports: JB Wells revenue positive for September; parks and public works updates

The report showed JB Wells and related facilities generated about $54,156 in revenues in September from arena rentals, show barn rentals, stall rentals, shaving sales and RV rentals; estimated expenditures including payroll were $39,674, leaving an approximate $14,482 positive variance for the month and a modest year‑to‑date improvement versus the prior fiscal year.
Public works noted several water‑service repairs and new taps were completed and that crews removed dead trees and hauled decades of debris from South Thar Street. Parks staff are scheduling tree‑trimming training with the Ag Extension Office, installing a sprinkler system in Texas Hero Square, and deployed a new steam pressure washer purchased via the economic development corporation to clean sidewalks and playground equipment.
Staff also reported algae remediation work at the Reflection Pond in front of the museum and said cooler weather and recent cleanups should reduce recurrence. A new reach mower was delivered and will be used to cut riverbanks over coming weeks.
Council thanked staff for maintenance work and asked for continued updates as projects progress.
