Atascosa County Commissioners Court on Nov. 12 approved several permits and a surplus equipment donation and authorized a contract to support pursuit of a USDA Rural Development Community Facilities grant.
Permits approved included a 116‑foot pipeline permit for Marathon Oil Company on County Road 401; the court recorded that a deposit of $1,170.66 had been turned over to the county treasurer and that the amount was overpaid by $670.66 and would be returned. Commissioner Riley moved to approve the pipeline permit; the motion was seconded and carried.
Commissioners also approved multiple 10‑inch lay‑flat line permits for Select Water Solutions LLC on County Roads 411, 410 and 407 (routes and footage were read into the record), and a 10‑inch lay‑flat permit from Camino Real Mineral Company on County Road 419; required checks were noted as turned over to the treasurer. A commercial driveway permit for Westler Ranches LLC on County Road 311 in Precinct 3 was approved to provide commercial access for property being converted to a grass farm.
Sheriff Sauer requested and the court approved donation of a surplus Motorola mobile vehicle radio to the Charlotte Volunteer Fire Department; the radio was replaced by a new dual‑band system and no longer required by the sheriff’s office.
The court opened a public hearing to consider posting "no truck" signs on US 281 and several local roads pursuant to Texas Transportation Code §251.152; no members of the public spoke and the court closed the hearing and later approved the signage request.
The court also approved a contract with Lankford Community Management Services to administer professional services related to an application for a USDA Rural Development Community Facilities grant for an EMS building; county staff indicated materials were submitted through Representative Henry Cuellar’s office and the county attorney reviewed the agreement. The motion to approve the contract was seconded and carried.
