Atascosa County sets 2025 salaries and approves 8.94% TCDRS retirement contribution

Atascosa County Commissioners Court voted to adopt salary schedules and allowances for the 2025 budget year and approved the county's retirement contribution to the Texas County & District Retirement System (TCDRS).

Treasurer Laura Preverick told the court the county portion of retirement shown in the budget is 8.94% for 2025 and asked commissioners to approve and sign the form to forward to TCDRS. "This is the county's retirement. It's what's in the budget, and I just need the commissioners to approve it and then have you sign that paper, and I'll get it back to TCDRS," Preverick said. Commissioner Lisonbee moved to approve the contribution and the court carried the motion by voice vote.

Auditor Tracy Barrera presented the salary schedule and position classifications for the budget year beginning Jan. 1, 2025, noting distinctions between exempt and salary positions, overtime rules applicable to law enforcement and treatment of grant-funded positions. Commissioners accepted the salaries, expenses and allowances for the county for the 2025 budget year by voice vote.

The court also approved the minutes for the September 2024 meetings as requested by County Clerk Teresa Crossco. The clerk read bond amounts for incoming officials (commissioners, county attorney, tax assessor-collector, sheriff, constables and the auditor) and the court approved those amounts and signatures.

The court recorded motions and voice votes for the retirement rate and salary schedule; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript. The approved salary schedule and TCDRS form will be forwarded to TCDRS and implemented with the 2025 payroll.
