The administration’s enrollment projection for the cooperative anticipates 5–15 students in the near term; the renovated space was designed to accommodate at least 20 students, depending on needs.
Board members asked for further stakeholder engagement as design details are refined, including the Teaching & Learning Committee’s review of final floor plans and additional input from staff and families who work directly with Fairview South students. Trustees discussed long‑range capital implications (roofing, HVAC and other deferred maintenance) and asked administration to include those items in the district’s master facility plan.
The motion carried on a voice vote. Administration said it will proceed into the design phase, solicit bids, present guaranteed maximum price details to Finance & Operations, and bring final layouts to relevant committees for feedback before construction starts next summer.
