The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended Nov. 21 that City Council approve rezoning approximately 10.56 acres adjacent to FM 969 from P2 to P5 commercial to allow a retail center and gas station.
Staff described the parcel (out of the Nancy Blakey Survey, Abstract 98) as recently annexed to receive city services; on annexation it defaulted to P2 and the applicant seeks commercial zoning for a retail/gas station use. "This current developer is wanting to develop this land as a retail center slash gas station," the planner said. Notification letters were mailed to 24 surrounding property owners within 300 feet; staff reported no responses in favor or opposed as of the hearing.
Commissioners asked logistical questions, including about wastewater and parking, and staff said those details will be determined at the site-plan stage. After opening and closing the public hearing with no signed speakers, the commission voted to recommend rezoning to City Council.
