"This really helps increase that transparency and fairness for all," staff said, explaining the rationale for adopting a formal policy.
Council members discussed how sponsors would be selected and how multiple sponsorship levels are typically used for events, rather than a single highest-bidder model. Staff said the policy would include defined sponsorship tiers and agreements to ensure expectations are recorded and to avoid later discrepancies over what a sponsor provided.
Following a motion to approve the sponsorship policy (mover: Councilman Lundin; seconder: Councilman Heaman), the council voted 5-0 to adopt the policy.
Next steps: Staff will publish the sponsorship policy and apply it to upcoming events and sponsorship solicitations.
