At its regular meeting, the Stewartville City Council heard a series of staff reports and community announcements.
Staff said MnDOT presented options for the Highway 30/First Street bridge demolition and a detour that may cause intermittent heavy traffic through the project window; staff expects work to continue through October with occasional weekend impacts. The manager’s office said a public workshop will be scheduled so council members can weigh in on proposed alignments.
Finance staff reported work on the 2025 budget has started and asked council members to submit ideas. Public works staff noted an announced retirement in the department and said a revised job description will be reviewed by the personnel committee to expedite replacement when the employee departs in October.
The mayor provided community announcements, including condolences to families named George and Peter, reminders about the weekly Farmers Market, movie night on July 12 and the Rook River Antique Showdown and annual barbecue/dance on July 20. Park Board and public-works updates covered installation of cameras at Meadow Park and a proposed ordinance to change park closing time from 10:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Council opened the floor for public comment and then moved on to close public input and conclude the meeting.
