The Isanti City Council approved the city's 2025 final budget and related levy resolutions at its meeting. Staff said the resolution reflects updates since the previous meeting and that the levy increase in the resolution is 2% with a projected tax rate decrease of about 1.8%.
Council discussed the fund balance and conservative projections. "I am a little worried about pulling that much from the fund balance," one council member said, urging conservative projections from staff. Council moved and passed the 2025 final budget resolution unanimously. The council also adopted the final 2024 levy collectible in 2025 (motion carried 5-0), approved the 2025 enterprise fund budgets, and approved a cost-of-living adjustment for non'union employees that aligns wage adjustments with current union contracts.
Staff and council noted fund balance guidance and explained that some reserves remain available (including a liquor store fund) if necessary. The budget and associated resolutions passed by recorded motions and unanimous voice votes.
