Stewartville’s City Council approved updates to the parks and recreation tournament and league policies after the Park Board asked staff to amend all related forms and procedures.
The council accepted policies that set tournament and league operational dates from May 15 through Oct. 15, assign a tournament lead director responsible for collecting fees and applications and for post-event cleanup (including field and parking-lot maintenance), and reserve recurring weekly days for certain activities—Tuesday for disc golf, Sunday for pickleball and sand volleyball. The Park Board described a new “memorial registration” option used by organizers of memorial tournaments that raise scholarship funds.
Council members said the average event fee will range from $50 to $100. A council member asked for clarification on the memorial-registration purpose; a Park Board representative responded that such events are fundraisers for scholarships and similar causes. After a motion, second and voice vote, council approved the policy amendments.
The measures will take effect immediately per the Park Board recommendation; the council did not record individual roll-call votes in the transcript.
Council staff noted that copies of the updated policies were attached to the meeting materials and asked that organizers direct questions to park staff for implementation details.
