The Stewartville City Council approved an amendment to the city parks ordinance that adds Broken Ridge Park to the list of city parks and adjusts park closing times as presented.
Council members said the first reading was held July 23 and that no public comments were received. During discussion, members focused on cleaning up and standardizing park signage so that entries convey consistent rules across parks.
A motion to approve ordinance 2024-4 (amending chapter 9 relating to parks) was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. Council also discussed implementation steps for signage and identified staff follow-up to update sign language.
The ordinance change moves to any required subsequent steps for final codification under city procedure; staff will coordinate signage updates and confirm the official effective date of the ordinance.
