Council approval was required for the grant application; members moved, seconded and approved a resolution to authorize the application by voice vote.
Staff cautioned that the grant application is a funding request and does not itself commit city funds; additional approvals will be required if the grant is awarded and if matching or implementation funds are identified. Staff also noted that development activity at the site appears to be moving quickly and referenced United Therapeutics as active in the area, signaling private-sector momentum behind the project.
Next steps include finalizing the application with SEH, submitting it to the state, and returning to council with any award information and requests for further action.
