Commission approves vacation of two Val Verde lots to correct platting error

The Bastrop Planning & Zoning Commission unanimously approved a request on Sept. 26 to vacate two lots in Val Verde Section 1 after staff said a ten‑foot public‑utility easement was mistakenly applied to Lot 52 rather than Lot 71 during the original platting.
Miss Kennedy told the commission the error left one lot nearly unbuildable because the easement was located on the wrong side, and title work required vacation of both lots so the owner could replat them correctly. The two lots total about 1.33 acres in Block C of Val Verde Section 1, located west of FM 969 within the city limits.
A commissioner moved to approve the vacation, the motion was seconded, and roll call recorded unanimous approval. Staff said the property owner will return with a minor plat after the lots are vacated to correct the configuration for title purposes.
