Council approves $84,449 bid for BEDC offices at City Hall

The Bastrop City Council unanimously approved Resolution No. 2024-411 to accept a low bid from Moab Construction for $84,449 to complete renovations at City Hall for the Bastrop Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) offices.
City Manager Sylvia Carrillo Trevino explained the BEDC board convened and approved the project and that staff would occupy the renovated space by the end of the year. The renovation bid was the lowest of three received; Carrillo Trevino said Moab Construction has prior work experience in the city. Councilmember Plunkett moved to approve the resolution and Councilmember Meyer seconded; the roll-call vote was unanimous.
The council noted BEDC actions require council authorization, and staff said the work is intended to prepare city-managed office space for BEDC staff and improve coordination among departments. The council did not discuss amendments to the contract during the session.
