Court approves consent items, COPS grant application and audit engagements

At its July 1 meeting the Bell County Commissioners Court approved several routine and procurement items.
The court adopted the consent agenda, which included approval of minutes from the June 24 meeting, personnel budget amendments, and accounts-payable/payroll claims. The consent agenda also included a reclassification for a JP2 Deputy Clerk 2 position; the change will increase compensation and required a FY2024 budget amendment of $947.
The court authorized the county judge to submit an invitation application to the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) for the COPS Technology Equipment Program in the amount of $1,925,000 with no local match, designating the sheriff and the county judge as authorized officials.
The court also approved exemptions from competitive procurement for independent audits under procurement code cited in the meeting and authorized three engagement letters: the county audit (not to exceed $140,000), the Juvenile Probation Department audit (not to exceed $19,000), and the Community Supervision and Corrections Department audit (not to exceed $23,000). Motions carried by voice vote.
