Bell County approves retiree vision option, authorizes watershed grant MOU and routine consent items

At its Aug. 19 meeting Bell County—s commissioners approved a package of administrative items:
- The court adopted a retiree vision benefit option presented by the director of human resources that allows retirees who participated in county dental or medical coverage at retirement to enroll in the new vision plan at their own expense (no county cost). The option is available to qualifying retirees or until Oct. 31, 2024, for the transition period identified by staff.
- The court authorized the county judge to execute a memorandum of understanding with the American Conservation Foundation (ACF) to identify and apply for grants related to Leon River watershed mitigation. County officials said the MOU imposes no financial obligation on Bell County and ACF would coordinate with the county grant administrator.
- The court approved its consent agenda, including approval of minutes, claims and a $7,880 feral hog abatement grant application to Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Wildlife Services with a $0 match requirement.
All three items were approved by voice vote.
