Bell County authorizes renewal with Central County Services to operate Diversion Center

Bell County Commissioners authorized the county judge to enter the renewal of an interlocal agreement with Central County Services (CCS) to operate the Bell County Diversion Center. The agreement directs CCS, as the local mental health authority, to provide on‑demand crisis evaluation and nonclinical care services for individuals age 18 and older who are referred by law enforcement or other entities.

During discussion a presenter described operational roles: CCS staff will administer the facility and be responsible for direct nonclinical care and paraprofessional services, as well as administration of security at the facility. The county’s responsibilities include providing the facility, facility maintenance, utility costs, and associated service agreements. Hill Country Community Action Meals on Wheels was named as the organization that will assist with meal services under related agreements.

A motion to authorize renewal of the agreement was made by Commissioner Schuman and seconded by Commissioner Schinson; the court approved the motion by voice vote (verbal 'ayes' recorded, no roll‑call tally provided). The presenter noted the county had purchased the facility "a year or two ago," and that CCS will receive referrals from Bell County law enforcement and emergency health providers for crisis triage services.
