Bell County court approves routine consent items, Simon Addition minor plat and MOU with Moody ISD police

At its Dec. 2 meeting the Bell County Commissioners Court approved routine business on a six-item consent agenda, including approval of the Nov. 18 minutes, personnel and budget amendments, claims (accounts payable, restitution and juror pay), and ratification of a service agreement to provide meals for the Bell County Diversion Center. The consent agenda was moved by Commissioner Schuman and seconded by Commissioner Whitson and approved by voice vote.
The court also approved a minor plat, the Simon Addition, a one-lot, five-acre subdivision in Precinct 3 north of Troy with frontage on a TxDOT-maintained frontage road; staff said the lot is large enough for on-site septic systems and is not in a floodplain.
Separately, the court approved a memorandum of understanding enabling Moody Independent School District to operate its own police department and formalizing coordination with the Bell County Sheriff's Department for overlapping jurisdiction in the northern part of the county. Staff noted the county already has MOUs with Salado ISD and may have historical agreements with other ISDs. Each item passed on a voice vote.
