Bell County honors county engineer and law-enforcement investigators during commissioners court

At its Dec. 9 session the court received two presentations: Zane Dunham presented a Tesira honorary membership to Bell County engineer Brian Neaves; Henry Garza presented Leroy Cook Awards to investigators Ashley Cunningham, Amanda Hochschloff and Corey Powell for careers in major criminal investigations.
The Bell County Commissioners Court used part of its Dec. 9 meeting to present professional recognitions to county and regional public-safety personnel.
Zane Dunham, county engineer for McLennan County and vice president of the Texas Association of County Engineers and Road Administrators, presented the 2024 Tesira honorary membership to Bell County Engineer Brian Neaves in recognition of roughly 40 years of work in engineering, service at TxDOT, professional licensure, floodplain-manager certification, and leadership within the county-engineer association. Neaves thanked colleagues and called the honor a reflection of collaborative work and support.
Separately, Henry Garza (speaking from the prosecutor’s office) presented the Leroy Cook Awards to three investigators for sustained excellence in complex criminal investigations. Garza described long, interagency investigations — including the Cedric Marks case and related multi-jurisdictional work — and named Wilroy Petruka and Texas Ranger Johnny Aycock as longtime influences on investigative practice. Recipients Ashley Cunningham and Amanda Hochschloff accepted the awards; Amanda was noted for work with crimes against children and multiple specialized credentials, and Corey Powell (now with the Bell County Sheriff’s Office) also received recognition and said he accepted the honor on behalf of victims.
The court paused the agenda to take photographs with award recipients and their colleagues and thanked the presenters and the district attorney’s office for their service.
