Community education report: swim lessons, pickleball and dual‑language guides show shifting participation

Bill Graymont, coordinator for the Community Education & Recreation Department, reviewed the 2023–24 year at the Dec. 9 Fond du Lac Board of Education meeting, highlighting program growth areas and operational changes.
Graymont said adult fitness classes (yoga, Zumba) and opportunities for pickleball have expanded and that swim‑lesson participation rose after adding sessions, noting "we've added 2 additional spring sessions" and an increase of about a hundred participants in swim lessons compared with previous years. He described outreach efforts such as publishing activity guides with English on one side and Spanish on the other to improve accessibility for English‑learner families.
Graymont reviewed staffing levels for year‑round operations and seasonal lifeguards and noted operational adjustments to facility scheduling, including the move to a centralized facility‑use scheduler and digital requests to reduce conflicts between school and community events. He also cited partnerships with SilverSneakers and Optum Fitness for senior programs and with local cycling vendors that helped launch a Fond du Lac Mountain Bike Club.
Board members thanked Graymont for the report and praised new offerings and bilingual outreach. No board action was required.
