Richland County committee debates expanding scope to "facilities planning" and sets walkthrough schedule

"The purpose has got bigger," the Chair (Speaker 1) said, urging the committee to return to the full board with options about scope, membership and a formal name.
The committee also set near-term logistics: staff was asked to propose several dates in October for a Venture Architects evening presentation and to coordinate an on-site daytime walkthrough of campus buildings for several committee members. The group discussed meeting start times (earlier than 6 p.m. for walkthroughs) and agreed staff should coordinate availability with the consultant and propose final dates.
Why it matters: Changing the committee from a short-term ad hoc body to a standing or longer-term facilities planning committee would alter membership expectations, reporting requirements and the board-level approvals required to spend on inventory, winterization or capital projects.
