Rock County honors Administrator Josh Smith as he departs for University of Wisconsin post

The Rock County Board of Supervisors on Nov. 14 formally recognized County Administrator Josh Smith for more than a decade of service as he prepares to join the University of Wisconsin system.
State Senator Mark Spreitzer and Representatives Clinton Anderson and Sue Connelly presented a legislative citation commending Smith for his public service and noting his upcoming position as Senior Associate Vice President for Finance at the University of Wisconsin. The citation, read to the board, cited Smith’s years of service, prior roles and his contributions to county operations and budget work.
Multiple supervisors offered personal remarks and tributes. In his remarks, Smith reflected on his 10 years as county administrator, thanked his mentors and colleagues, and said the decision to leave was difficult. He acknowledged accomplishments and challenges, and told the board he remains committed to a smooth transition.
A motion recognizing Josh for his service passed by voice vote earlier in the meeting. No personnel action was taken during the recognition beyond the commendation and the ceremonial resolution.
