Oconomowoc adopts annual indexing for impact fees and sewer charges effective Jan. 1, 2025

The Oconomowoc Common Council voted Dec. 3 to authorize annual indexing of impact fees and sewer-availability charges effective Jan. 1, 2025.
Staff reported that the city evaluates two indexes when setting fees: a construction-cost index (which rose roughly 1% this year) and interest from the Local Government Investment Pool (LGIP), which has increased about 5%. Using those measures, staff said the calculation would raise fees for a single-family house by about $98 (the packet lists $91.14 in one place and staff summarized about $98 during discussion).
Aldermen asked for clarification that sewer wrecks and the boat-launch project are separate issues; staff and the mayor said they have not been tied together in negotiations and that the indexing decision would not change separate project negotiations. Council approved the indexing resolution on a roll-call vote.
The resolution will adjust fees citywide as of Jan. 1, 2025; staff indicated the change reflects modest construction-cost increases and higher interest costs tied to debt for the north interceptor project. The council did not alter the index methodology at the meeting.
