Plan Commission approves zone change and sign plan for Imprint site at 2875 Atlas Avenue

The Oshkosh Plan Commission unanimously approved a zone change and associated sign plan on Oct. 15 that will allow larger directional signage at Imprint Incorporated’s facility at 2875 Atlas Avenue.
Staff said the applicant seeks a zone change from heavy industrial to heavy industrial with a planned development overlay to permit four directional signs sized 21 square feet and 5.5 feet tall; staff noted the standard maximum cited in materials is 8 square feet and 3 feet tall. Staff recommended approval with conditions to offset the increased sign size, including requiring 25 landscaping points around each sign and limiting ground signage to one sign per frontage not to exceed 72 square feet.
“Staff is supportive of the proposed zone change as it will allow additional signage options for the sites,” staff told the commission, adding the larger signs would improve wayfinding for truck drivers and visitors and support safe circulation on the site.
John Lord, representing 4imprint, said the written materials explained the company’s needs and he was present to answer questions. No members of the public spoke against the proposal.
The commission adopted the staff findings and recommendations and approved the zone change, general development plan and specific implementation plan on a roll call vote, 8–0.
