West Bend City BID approves up to $5,000 for tables and chairs at Old Settlers Park

The West Bend City BID board approved a plan to acquire movable tables and chairs for Old Settlers Park, with a spending cap of $5,000 and subject to city approval. The purchase is intended to encourage people to gather during events such as the Farmers Market and Music On Main and to provide daytime seating.

Speaker 1, who led the meeting, said the furniture would encourage congregating and help families and market patrons have a place to sit and eat. Board members discussed logistics including the number and type of tables, storage, liability and who would move the furniture for events. Speaker 5 estimated individual table-and-chair sets at about $800 and said the board could start with "four or five" sets; delivery costs were discussed but not finalized.

Board members agreed donated fixtures would be transferred to the city. Speaker 2 noted that donated items typically shift liability to the city and reminded members the BID itself cannot own park fixtures. The motion to purchase the furniture "upon approval of the city" with a cap of $5,000 was moved in the meeting and approved by voice vote. Speaker 1 assigned Larry to prepare plans and coordinate with Noelle and the city to proceed with ordering by the next meeting.

The board will monitor how the furniture works for events and whether organizers need to move sets for weekly or special events. No delivery or vendor was selected at the meeting; the board asked members to circulate manufacturer information for review.
