Downtown EV chargers go live; board reports $17,000 in revenues

The Downtown Business Improvement District board heard that downtown electric vehicle chargers are installed and functional, and that $17,000 now appears in the BID’s financial report.
Jess, a BID staff member, told the board, “They're now there and functional.” She said an initial credit-card processor issue delayed full operation but was resolved and that longer cables are arriving to serve larger vehicles. Jess said an online dashboard lets staff monitor charger availability and outages remotely. “We have an online dashboard that shows who's using what chargers,” she said.
The chargers were installed as part of the downtown Main Street reconstruction project and were supported by the downtown transportation bid during procurement. Jess said revenue from charging has begun to appear in the BID’s accounts and that income will be nominal at first, covering operating electricity costs and rolling into the BID budget for maintenance. When a board member asked, “What percentage do we actually get from that?” Jess said she did not know the exact share and offered to provide the figure to the board.
Board members agreed not to rush promotion: staff said they wanted a short soft-launch period to confirm reliability before listing the chargers on public websites and maps. The board asked staff to report back with the exact revenue-share percentage and with usage trends after another month of data collection.
The board approved the financial report, which includes the initial charger deposits.
