Planning staff asked the West Bend Plan Commission on Oct. 1 to set public hearings for permanent land‑use map amendments covering three parcels totaling about 65 acres, including parcels on County Highway D and a parcel on Patricia Drive. Staff said the parcels are in the process of annexation into the city and that annexation will be presented to the Common Council for consideration after the November elections.
Jim and John told commissioners that the land‑use map would be amended to allow a mix of uses — mixed use, open space, two‑family and single‑family — and that staff recommends setting hearings at the earliest convenience so the annexation and associated plan amendments can be considered together. Staff plans to bring the annexation for council consideration next month, with enactment to follow the elections.
A commissioner asked whether the commission could act before annexation is complete; staff replied that setting a hearing is procedural and notices would be issued following annexation. The commission voted to set the public hearings and separately moved to schedule a zoning map amendment hearing for December to consider zoning designations including RS‑4, RD‑2, P‑1 and NSW (non‑shoreland wetland) for the property. Both motions carried by voice vote.
