Library Director Steve said the package includes modest line-item adjustments: a new $4,259 audit line, a $4,000 capital outlay entry for the city—s portion of new IT servers, and an increase in outreach spending to $9,467 that raised total library materials to $233,706. He also noted a $1,055 increase in WRS (from $42,508 to $43,563) and a telephone estimate increase from $5,349 to $6,186.
"Yeah, I think it's I mean, if we got that, I'd be really comfortable this year," Steve said when asked whether the package was acceptable to staff. After a motion to adopt the budget as presented and a second, the board approved the measure by voice vote; the presiding facilitator announced the motion carries. The board discussed that if the city administration or finance department requests changes during its review, the board may need to reconvene or revote on the item.
Board members and staff described the salary "market correction" line included in the draft as a planned adjustment to bring pay closer to market rates. Steve said the correction may be implemented over a two-year time frame or as a single action depending on common council direction.
The board also noted a number of small rounding and actuals updates included in the packet; the library director said most are corrective entries tied to the city—s finance review. The package will go to the common council agenda for further consideration.
