The West Bend Plan Commission voted Oct. 1 to set a public hearing on a proposed land-use and zoning change for about 34 acres at the northeast corner of South Eighteenth Street and County Trunk Highway NN.
Planning staff said the land-use designation would change from 'business park' to 'single-family residential' and that the corresponding rezoning would shift the parcel from M-3 (industrial) to RS-4 (single-family residential). Staff said the request is tied to a potential developer interested in redeveloping the parcel and noted the site was previously included in Tax Increment District No. 8, which closed in 2022.
John (planning staff) described the proposal and asked the commission to set hearings; commissioners moved, seconded and voted to set the public hearings for the next available meeting. The commission made a joint motion to set both the comprehensive-plan amendment hearing and the zoning amendment hearing so the items can be reviewed together.
The commission’s action was limited to setting the public hearings; no final land‑use or zoning decisions were made at the meeting. Notices and any subsequent hearings will follow the city’s published annexation and public‑notice procedures.
